Norma C. Woodside
HALLOWELL – Norma’s version of her obituary. Norma C. Woodside of Oakwood Drive in Hallowell passed away on April 8, 2023.
Norma was born in Randolph on July 21, 1927, the only child of Stella (Webb) and Wm. Alfred Carter. The family moved to Lubec in 1930.
She graduated from Lubec High School in 1945, moved to Hallowell and was employed at the Togus Veterans Administration.
In later years she worked as a secretary at the Hall-Dale Elementary School and was also employed by the State of Maine in various departments.
Norma was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Row House, and the Hubbard Free Library, all of Hallowell. She had also been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels at the Cohen Center, also located in Hallowell.
On June 5, 1948, Norma was married to John L. Woodside of Hallowell. John died on Jan. 28, 1999.
Norma is survived by her four children, J. Michael of Bridgeton, Steven P. of Hallowell, Lynne C. of Augusta, and Scott D. of Intervale, N.H., as well as her three grandchildren, Jon and Kimberlee of Richmond, Virginia, and Dustin M. of Augusta.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Norma was predeceased by her oldest child, Carmen of Midlothian, Va. in December 2021.
Norma’s committal service will be held on Friday June 23 at 11 a.m. at John and Norma’s lot at the North end of Hallowell Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
