Margaret “Peggy” Bell

AUGUSTA – Margaret “Peggy” Bell, 97, died peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at the Glenridge Rehab and Long-Term Care in Augusta.

She was born in Boston, Mass. on June 8, 1926, the daughter of Henry Meldrum and Margaret (Rennie) who were Scottish Immigrants. She was a graduate of Rockland High School. She lived many years in Limestone and spent her later years in Augusta.

Peggy was an excellent seamstress and crafter passing on her sewing skills to her granddaughter Jaime. She hand sewed all the patches Joe earned on his Boy Scout uniform. She especially loved to crochet and during the winter months she crocheted hats and mittens for those in need. She loved her great-granddogs Opal, Peanut and Saber.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Lizotte and husband Don of Farmingdale, and her son, Fred J. Bell and wife Lynn of Cross Lake.

Additionally, she is survived by her granddaughter, J’aime Fertig and her husband Alden and their daughter Alice of San Rafael, Calif.; and grandsons Joe Lizotte and his wife Lindsay and their sons Lucas and Owen of Bremerton, Wash; and Alex Bell and his sons Jack and Sabastian of Cross Lake.

A private memorial service will be held later in July in Maine. The family would like to thank the staff of Glenridge for their care.
