MADISON – Christine “Chris” Ann Memmolo, 64, passed peacefully, June 14, 2023 at the hospital after bravely fighting cancer to the end. Chris was born in Boston, Mass., March 20, 1959, the daughter of Peter and Ann (Corso) Racca.

Chris graduated from East Boston High School. After graduation, she went on to become a nurse and worked at Boston City Hospital as well we caring for residents at various nursing homes.

Chris is remembered for strength and humor, as well as her enjoyment of crocheting blankets for those she loved. One June 4, the day she left Maine General, Chris wanted to be sure to show her appreciation to the staff who cared for her. She instructed her husband to order 30 pizzas and deliver them to the staff – and to bring root beer. The Memmolo family wishes to thank the staff at Maine General, Franklin Memorial Hospital and Sandy River Nursing Home for their gentle care of Chris during her stays.

Chris is survived by her loving husband of nearly 45 years, Maurice Memmolo; and two sisters.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Chris and sister, Mary. She was also predeceased by her beloved cat, Pippi.

Family and friends are invited to call, 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 22 at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave, Skowhegan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 27 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 273 Water St., Skowhegan. Committal prayers will be read at Sunset View Cemetery in Norridgewock, following mass.
