Edna Hale

TOLLAND, Conn. – Edna Hale passed away peacefully in her home on June 18, 2023.

Edna was born to parents Alice and John Hines on Sept. 1, 1929 in Manchester, England.

She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Alfred Hale who passed away in 2016 after spending 63 wonderful and loving years together.

Edna is survived by her children, Susan Hale Frost and Kenneth of Winslow, Patricia Hale Moriarty and Michael of Tolland, Conn., Stephen A. Hale and Nancy of Fairfield, and Kathryn Hale and Matthew of Manchester, Conn.; grandchildren include Beth, Jennifer, Stephen, Sara, Hannah and Zachary; great-grandchildren include Benjamin, Kali, Jaycee, Jordan, Brooke, Reese, Emerson, Andrew, Avery and Grayson. Edna is also survived by her sister, Rita Hines Holt of Uppermill, England; and several nieces and nephews.

She attended St Mark’s Episcopal Church in Waterville for many years and served as a lay reader. She was a Past Matron of Fireside Chapter #103 of Clinton, and a Past Grand Matron of the Eastern Star in Maine. She served for many years as a librarian at the Lawrence Public Library in Fairfield. Edna lived in Maine for many years but spent her final years in Connecticut with her loving daughter Patricia and Michael.

May God in Heaven prosper her journey and the angel God keep her company.

A committal service will be held on Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at 143 Blue Star Ave., Augusta.
