GARDINER – On June 10, 2023, Nancy Debra (Smith) Thibodaux passed away at home in Gardiner due to complications with Alzheimer’s disease. She was surrounded by beloved family during her passing.

Nancy was born on Nov. 19, 1952, in Waterville to her mother Alice J. Grant (Decker) and father, Thomas G. Smith. She was the middle child to her siblings Shirley Watson and Thomas Jr. Smith. She attended Waterville High School and was an office aidShe worked many years with the elderly and received her CDL license. Nancy loved dogs and always had one in her home. She had a fondest for Disney, taking trips with family members any chance she had. She also loved butterflies, Eeyore and collecting Hard Rock Café bears. Nancy met her husband, Dana Thibodaux in 2001 in Louisiana, one of their first dates was during Mardi Gras. The two were married for 22 years before his passing from cancer. 

Nancy was the mother of four children. daughter, Tammy and husband Matthew Whittemore grandchildren Nicole, Trevor, Tyler; daughter, Amy and husband Sean Gagnon, grandchildren Devin, Dylan, Hunter; son, Eric and wife Yvonne Kibbin, grandchild Eric; daughter, Erin and husband James Woodbury, grandchildren Anthony and Issac. Nancy had nine great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Nancy will be put to rest on July 7, at 9 a.m. at the Central Maine Veterans’ Cemetery – Civic Center Drive 143 Blue Star Ave., Augusta. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. at 177 High Holborn St., Gardiner.
