NORRIDGEWOCL — A free showing of the film “Peak Oil: A Love Story” 2016, made in 2016 by Nelson Cole and starring Iver Lofving, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Norridgewock Public Library, 40 Mercer Road.

It is now seven years later, where are we now?

“As long as the world keeps extracting oil in the millions of barrels per day, it is only common sense that one day the Earth will reach a point that extraction starts to decline, for better or worse,” a 2016 Morning Sentinel article quoted Lofving.

“Heating, electricity, transportation, cosmetics, medicines — even plastic bags — all rely on oil. People will have to learn to live in a much simpler way in the future in order to survive,” according to Lofving, the article added.

Lofving is a former Skowhegan Area High School art teacher and Maple Sugar producer in Skowhegan. His art work is on display at the library through July 15.
