Parishes offering free meals, soup kitchens, food pantries for all faiths

In an effort to do all they can to help Maine individuals and families receive the food they need, parishes across the state offer free community meals, soup kitchens, and food pantries for people of all faiths to utilize.

Bingham

Eagle Lake
St. Mary Food Pantry, 3443 Aroostook Road, emergency food anytime, the first Wednesday of each month. For more information or to help out, call 207-834-5656.

Farmington
St. Joseph Nutrition Center, corner of Quebec and Middle streets, across from St. Joseph Church. A “Blessing Box” in front of the building provides food for any who need it and an opportunity to donate for those who have the means. For more information or to help out, call 207-778-2778.

Houlton
Mildred’s Food Pantry, 110 Military St., open from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays or by appointment. For more information or to help out, call 207-532-9122.

Jay
St. Rose of Lima Food Assistance, 1 Church St. parish hall. A “Blessing Box” faces the street in front of the building, which provides food for those who need it and an opportunity to donate for those who have the means. In addition, Catholic Charities Maine’s Food Bank, supported by the annual Catholic Appeal, provides food assistance to people in Aroostook County and beyond through nearly 30 food pantries. St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Gorham, Westbrook, and Windham supply 300 bagged lunches for local homeless every Tuesday. Many parishes host weekly and monthly lunches for seniors and offer food assistance on special occasions like preparing Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.
