Richard Douglas Craig

BURNHAM – Richard Douglas Craig, 80, a resident of Burnham, passed away peacefully on Aug. 8, 2023 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Richard was born on the Air Force Base in Scott Field, Ill., on April 18, 1943, the son of Richard and Dorothy (Preo) Craig. He was raised by Dorothy and his stepfather, Grover Huntley.

Richard graduated from Winslow High School. He married Joan Plourde on May 21, 1966. They were happily married for 55 years until Joan’s passing in 2021. They lived in Winslow and then moved to Burnham and Hudson, Fla. when they retired.

Richard worked the majority of his career as an electrician. He started his electrical apprenticeship and honed his craft at Scott Paper in Winslow, then transferred to S.D. Warren in Skowhegan until retirement at the age of 55. He was an accomplished 10-pin bowler, scoring multiple perfect “300” games. Richard also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, riding his scooter, and building things. He could fix anything and loved modifying things to make them work better. His favorite thing of all was spending time with his family as he was an extremely proud husband, Dad, and Gramps.

Richard is survived by his sons Steven Craig of Windham, Michael Craig and Lisa Brown of Waterville; grandchildren Matthew Craig, Nicole Craig and Andrew Craig. He will be greatly missed by all our family.

A private graveside burial service will be held at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville.
