Arnold “Arnie” Belanger

SKOWHEGAN – On Thursday Aug. 17, 2023 Arnold “Arnie” Belanger, loving husband and father went home to the Lord at the age of 85.

Arnold was a patriotic baby, born to Belle and Edo Belanger on July 4, 1938 in Madison. He graduated from Madison High School in 1957. During that time, Arnold worked for Veneziano’s market on Madison Avenue in Madison. The next step was a job working as a meat cutter at Sampson’s Supermarket later being sold to Shop ‘n Save, which today is Hannafords. Kennebec River Pulp and Paper Company was the next stop where he put his brain to work as an insurance clerk.

December 1961, the army came knocking and Arnold was drafted.

June 1962 Arnold married his beloved wife, Ghislaine Roy. Seven years later they adopted 7-month-old Catherine. Many health issues deemed him disabled, so his time was spent at home while Ghislaine worked.

Arnold was a gentle, kind man who loved animals, the woods, nature, camping, playing guitar and singing. He loved his many nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching them grow.

He is survived by his wife, Ghislaine; brother, Roland Belanger, sister, Beverly Hebert, brother-in-law, Val Roy; and daughter, Catherine.

There will be a private burial. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. To leave a condolence for the family and to view the online obituary, please visit http://www.gibersonfuneralhome.com.
