SKOWHEGAN – Robert George Flewelling, 86, passed away on August 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in Skowhegan, Maine on March 14, 1937, son of Guy Perley and Doria (Saucier) Flewelling. He graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1956. He then served in the US Army National Guard. He worked at Norrowock Shoe for several years. He also worked as the custodian and groundskeeper at Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish. His final job was as a custodian for MSAD #54. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2646 of Skowhegan.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Donald Flewelling of Cornville.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen (Turcotte) Flewelling, his two sisters, Beverly Wixom of Michigan and Linda Schallack of Skowhegan. He is also survived by children Susanne Manocchia and husband Robert of Ohio, Michael Flewelling and wife Leanne of Florida, Anne Sarah and husband John of Rhode Island, Nicole Joler and husband Joseph of Skowhegan; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water St. Skowhegan, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 11am.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home.
