AUGUSTA – Violette Holts, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, at the Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation following a brief illness. She was born in Augusta, on Dec. 5, 1937, a daughter of the late Joseph Z. and Emelie (Soucie) Cloutier.

Mrs. Holts graduated from Cony High. She lived and worked for several years in Southern California before returning to Maine to care for her mother along with her late sister, Lorraine Cloutier.

She had been employed for many years at the Atlee-Gleaton Eye Care in Augusta.

She is survived by her brother, Roland Cloutier and his wife, Carolyn of Lawndale, Calif. She is also survived by cousins Carol Veilleux of Portland and Elaine Doak of Augusta, other cousins, and several grandchildren. Her daughter, Marlene, predeceased her.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in the family lot at St. Augustine Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.
