Pamela Jean (Washburn) Christen

STARKS – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Pamela Jean (Washburn) Christen on August 25, 2023 at her home. Pam was born on Feb. 20, 1953 to Earlon and Shirley Washburn in Skowhegan.

After graduating from Skowhegan High School, Pamela met the love of her life, Donald Christen, and they built a wonderful life in Madison raising two children, Tara and Tracy. Pam was very proud of her daughters. She had so much love and support for both of them. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved watching her grandchildren on the field, gym and stage.

Pam was a very good cook, famous for her potato salad. She crocheted many blankets her family will cherish forever.

Pam was predeceased by her parents, Earlon and Shirley Washburn; one brother, Russell Washburn; father and mothers-in-law, Charles and Millicent Christen.

Pam is survived by her husband of 50 years Donald Christen; daughters, Tara Friend, Tracy and husband Marc Cowan; grandchildren, Logan and wife Emily Cowan, Brooklyn and husband Jeff Bearor, Lexie Cowan and partner Nate Watson, Ty Friend and partner Ashley Pomeroy; great grandbaby, Elaine Jean Friend, and two other great-grandbabies on the way; her siblings, Bob Washburn and wife Waneta, Randy Washburn, Patty Washburn, Jeff Washburn and wife Brenda, brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Bunny Christen, Linda Warren Carlson; and many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by special caregivers, Alecia Doucette and Lynda Howes and special friends, Larry Joyce Delano, Pat Dave McCrillis and Elaine Moulton.

Many thanks for the great support by Androscoggin Home Health Care & Hospice during her last month of her dementia.

Celebration of life for family and friends will be held Sept. 17, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Starks Community Center with Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
