GARDINER — Sections of Church Street are expected to be closed with limited access for local traffic starting Sept. 18 for a sewer line replacement project.

The Gardiner Public Works Department will replace about 750 feet of sewer line, in a project expected to take two to three weeks.

Construction is expected to start at the intersection of Church and Water streets and will move uphill in sections as work progresses.

Drivers traveling north into Gardiner on Route 24 to Route 201, also known as Brunswick Avenue, will be detoured around Church Street, which will not be open to through traffic until construction is complete. Local access to properties along Church Street will be maintained.

For additional information on the project, contact Gardiner Public Works Director Jon Cameron at 207-485-4699 or jcameron@gardinermaine.com. Project updates will be posted on the city’s website, its Facebook page and on the Gardiner Current mobile app.
