Scouting year and area Cub Scout Packs have already begun recruiting or have set target sign-up events in their respective communities.

In Vassalboro

Vassalboro Pack and Troop 410 leader Christopher Santiago, a leader in both said the groups are recruiting new Cub Scouts for Pack 410, now a Family Pack, and accepting boys and girls K-5. They also are accepting young men in grades 6-12 for Troop 410. Those who can’t make the signup can email Christopher Santiago at vassalborocubscoutpack410@gmail.com for the pack or vassalborobsatroop410@gmail.com for the troop. Children can join at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, at the Vassalboro Methodist Church at 614 Main St.

Boys and girls in grades K-five who live in the Farmington area can join Pack 585 for outdoor activities from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at Titcomb Mountain, 180 Ski Slope Road or attend the signup night at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the WG Mallett School Cafeteria, 116 Middle St.

Skowhegan

Cubs in Skowhegan Pack 485 will have a meeting at 4 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 10 and 17 at Tewksbury Hall, 13 Island Ave. in Skowhegan. Those interested from area towns can call Shanna Brown at 207-313-4461 for more information. They welcome all families from kindergarten through grade five.

Belgrade, Oakland Sidney

On Monday, Sept. 11, Belgrade, Oakland and Sidney youth can sign up for Pack 454 from 6-7 p.m. at Snow Pond, 8 Goldenrod Road in Sidney, for games run by the Scouts in the troop. There will be a second opportunity to join from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 at Camp Bomazeen, 656 Horsepoint Road in Belgrade, where the pack will have s’mores by the lake. Manchester

Manchester Pack 622, which has been inactive since before the COVID pandemic, is restarting and looking for new Cub Scouts. Winslow area boys and girls can join Cub Scout Pack 445. The pack will be at the Winslow Elementary School, 285 Benton Ave., at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19.
