WEST GARDINER — Three people were injured Monday morning when a car hit a guardrail while traveling southbound on Interstate 95 in West Gardiner, according to officials.
The crash near mile marker 103 slowed traffic for about 90 minutes.
Emergency workers were called to the scene at 9:41 a.m.
Rick Sieberg, chief of the Gardiner Ambulance Service, said three people in the car suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Erin Courtney, public outreach manager for the Maine Turnpike Authority, said Monday that as a result of the crash, a section of guardrail ended up in the roadway and traffic was reduced to one lane while workers removed the damaged metal.
A traffic alert issued because of the crash was lifted at about 11:15 a.m.
