Mary Elizabeth Shepard
AUGUSTA – Mary Elizabeth Shepard, 89, went to the Lord Jan. 15, 2021.
She was born in Waterville, on April 26, 1931, the daughter of Ora L. Zwicker and Mansfield Brayall. At 16 years old she started working at Lockwood Duchess Mill in Waterville. She labored long hours daily, in cotton mills, in shoe shops, a chicken factory, until she retired from Statler Tissue Corp.
She had been called for jury duty. She was on the committee for Veterans at the Eagles Club.
She was survived by one son, Mr. Clearance Tuttle Jr. of Waterville, and four daughters, Mrs. Linda Antalan of Worcester, Mass., Mrs. Katherine Bariteau of Nashua, N.H., Mrs. Maryann Abbott of China, and Mrs. Deborah Brendahl of Farmingdale; and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be at Vassalboro Village Cemetery on Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. Family and friends will gather together to lay her ashes to rest.
