Edward “Ed” C. Devault

CONCORD TWP – Edward “Ed” C. Devault, 79, of Concord TWP, flew with the angels on Saturday morning, Sept. 16, 2023, at Woodlawn Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1943 in Portland and was was raised in North Wayne by his loving foster parents, Herbert and Ruth Farnham. After graduating from Winthrop High School, 1962, he and two of his friends joined the Army using the “buddy system”. They enrolled in the 82nd Airborne in Ft. Bragg, N.C. After a term in the service, he worked various jobs until he accepted a job at International Paper Company in Jay where he’d later retire.

Ed was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing but, not so much berry picking. Becoming a pilot was one of his proudest accomplishments. He would fly his children up to Moosehead for many camping trips. He also enjoyed telling stories about taking people up and shutting down an engine to give them a bit of a scare. He also had a passion for travel. He and Dianne took many cruises and trips together and had many adventures RVing with their good friends Greg and Anita.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne; his daughter, Melissa Devault; and grandchildren, Cassidy Bunker and Joshua Bunker; daughter-in-law, Erica Devault and granddaughter, Cheyenne, grandson, Nathan Devault; stepchildren Amy Withee and husband, Kevin, Sherry Collins and partner, Shawn, Rita Collins, Jessica Turgeon and husband, Scott, Chantal Beane and partner, Johnathan, and stepson, Paul Rollins and wife, Erica; his brothers Richard Devault and wife Lydia, Herbert E. Farnham and wife Mary, Peter Farnham. He also leaves behind many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; friends and relatives.

Ed was predeceased by his foster parents; and his son, Shawn Devault.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Woodlawn Nursing Home, Beacon Hospice and Giberson Funeral Home for their extraordinary love, care and support.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at Pierce Cemetery in Solon. A Celebration of Life will follow at the American Legion Hall on Meadow St. in Bingham.
