Gloria Belle (Fowler) Jones

CANAAN – Gloria Belle (Fowler) Jones, 90, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, in her own home. Gloria was born Sept. 18, 1933, in Hartland, the daughter of Alton and Edith (Nason) Fowler. She graduated from Bloomfield Academy in 1951. She married Clarence M. Jones on Oct. 23, 1953.

Gloria worked for various shoe shops in Skowhegan, and after starting a family, she worked as a cook at Canaan Elementary School until she retired. Gloria loved to go dancing and play cards. She was always ready to attend a grandchild’s or great-grandchild’s sporting events or birthday party.

Gloria was predeceased by her parents Alton and Edith Fowler; her sisters Marion and Phyllis, and her brother, Malcolm.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 69 years, Clarence M. Jones; daughters Linda Lambert and her husband Parris and Gail LaGross and her husband Butch; grandchildren, Heather Richardson and her partner Robbie Hayden, Matthew Richardson and his wife Candi, Luke Richardson and his wife Sasha, Allie LaGross, Mica LaGross and his wife Tayla; great-grandchildren which lit up her life when they were around, Brendon, Keegan, Leif and Reid Richardson, Lola Caruso, Sawyer Gould and Quinn, Carson, Brantley, Aviva, Eliana and Nolan LaGross.

Gloria had her last dance on Aug. 25 and visited with family and friends. Instead of funeral services, Gloria’s celebration of life was held on Sunday, Sept. 17 for her birthday before she passed. The family gathered and sang Happy Birthday to her and sat and visited with her. For immediate family who could not attend, they called to wish her a happy 90th birthday and said their goodbyes. She heard every word and was at peace.

The family would like to thank Maine General Hospice and her special nurses, Sharon and Brandy and Heather.
