Jacqueline “Jackie” Charette Bouchard

HALLOWELL – Jacqueline “Jackie” Charette Bouchard passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, at Woodlands Senior Living, in Hallowell, at the age of 89. Though she struggled with dementia, she always found a way to keep her sense of humor. As a loving mother, she worked tirelessly to provide for her children. In 1977, she married the love of her life, Ronald Bouchard. It was such a joy to see our mother have a second chance at love, one that was deep and true.

Our mom worked for over 40 years at Hathaway Shirts in Waterville, as well as side jobs cleaning offices at night, and even dabbling in the catering business while her children were young so that she could provide for us. After Ronnie’s death, Jackie became involved with her local church, St. Theresa Church of Oakland and became a Eucharistic Minister, assisting with catechism classes and the local food pantry. She enjoyed assisting in the preparation of meals and took her role very seriously. She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed quilting and knitting. Family gatherings, especially our impromptu BBQs, brought her much joy.

Jackie was born on March 26, 1934, in Fort Kent, to Lionel and Ernestine (Gagnon) Charette. She was one of seven children.

Jackie was predeceased by her loving husband, Ronald Bouchard in 2002; her parents; and four brothers, Richard, James, Bernard, and Clarence.

She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Charette, brother, Gerald Charette and his wife Peggy, and sister-in-law, Gladys Charette, all of Fort Kent; daughter, Tina Rodrigue and partner Joe Plisga of Clinton, daughter, Donna Foster and partner Dennis Worster of Manchester, son, Karl Pelletier of Fort Kent, and stepson, Steve Bouchard and wife Jackie of Winslow. She is also survived by several grandchildren, Michael and Eric Rodrigue, Nicole and Chelsie Foster, Sarah, Amanda and Christopher Pelletier, and Brenden and Jacob Bouchard; as well as several great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, and their families who loved her deeply. She will be sorely missed.

Our family wants to thank her wonderful friends who took her under their wings after the passing of Ronnie. They remained true friends and helped her so she could live independently as long as possible. She cherished your love and friendship, and although she was not good at asking for help, she understood all that you did for her. She looked forward to drop-in visits from her neighbors on Lakeview Drive. As our family mourns the loss of our mom, please know that we were aware of, and greatly appreciate, the love and care you showed our mother. We also want to thank the staff at Woodlands Park Residence of Waterville for the care you provided for our mother during the difficult Covid years, and to Woodlands Senior Living, Memory Unit of Hallowell during her final months.
