Paul R. Busque

AUGUSTA – Paul R. Busque, 82, passed away on Oct. 7, 2023, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born in Augusta on Nov. 7, 1940, to parents Irene (Giroux) and Hormidas Busque.

Paul attended elementary schools in Massachusetts and Biddeford, Maine. He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served 2.5 years in Germany and over six months at Fort Devens in Massachusetts. He retired from the Augusta Police Department as a lieutenant. When he left the police force, he worked at Frank Pomerleaus setting up the warehouse and sleep shop. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, four wheeling and spending time with his cousins at Boulette Sporting Camps in Northern Maine. His happy place was at his camp in Millinocket on South Twin Lake that he shared with his wife Dot for 28 years facing Mount Katahdin. Dot was the love of his life and the two of them were the bestest of friends and married for 59 years.

Paul was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Jeanine Busque; and brother-in-law, Laurier “Joe” Brunelle and his wife Theresa; and his very special niece, Rachel Lajoie whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Brunelle) of Augusta; his nephews, Michael and wife Rachel, Paul and wife Sandi, and David and wife Lori; his great niece, Renee Callahan and husband Pete; and many more great nephews and nieces as well as great great nephews and great great nieces.

Out of respect for Paul’s wishes, there will not be any visitation. We will be celebrating his life with a committal service held on Oct. 18 at 12 noon at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Ave., Augusta, ME 04330 at the committal shelter.
