Madeline A. Doe

WINDSOR – Madeline A. Doe, 85, of Windsor, went to our Lord on Sept. 30, 2023 after struggling with Alzheimer’s for several years.

Madeline was born Aug. 31, 1938 in Howard Brook, New Brunswick, Canada to Walter and Bessie Sherwood, moved to Maine in 1952 and graduated from Erskine Academy in 1956.

She worked at CMP and married Ralph Doe April 30, 1966; they had two children in Windsor. While Madeline was a homemaker throughout the 1970s and 1980s, she also cared for other children in her home from the community, providing warmth and stability.

She was an excellent craftswoman and artist, participating in many craft shows throughout the state, selling her paintings, baskets and ornaments. Madeline enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, doing puzzles and working outside in the garden.

Madeline was predeceased by her parents; sister, Betty Cote, brother, Bob Sherwood, brother-in-law, Jay Doe; niece, Jackie Woodworth, and nephew, Robert Ring.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ralph Doe; her son, Richard Doe, daughter, Elizabeth Doe; as well as her grandchildren, Patrick Doe and Stephanie Shultz; and her great-grandson, Benson Shultz; and her sister, Jean Tibbetts. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by special friends and family, Diane Brown and Becky Hapgood.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held on Saturday Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, Windsor.

A special thank you is extended to the staff at Glenridge Long Term Care for their attentive care they gave Madeline over the last seven months of her life.
