WINDSOR – Mom passed away on Oct. 5, 2023, peacefully with her family by her side. Sheila was born March 10, 1958, to Chester and Lilla Ruby (Mitchell) Hysom. She was born in Augusta and raised in Windsor.

As a young woman she put her life on hold to take care of her ailing mother. A few short years later she welcomed her daughters with James E. Higgins. She mainly worked in the housekeeping field. Eventually, starting her own housekeeping business until she could no longer do because of her health. There was nothing she liked more the good music, card games, a good drink of brandy, or an adventure with family or friends.

She was predeceased by her life partner, James E. Higgins; her parents; brothers, Karl Day Sr. and Donald Hysom; and grandson, Robert Wade.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna and husband Tom Wade, and Laurie Peaslee; grandchildren, Matt, Shauna, Mindy, Destiny, Joseph Jr, and Kaylee; eight great grandchildren who called her “GG”; a brother, Gerald Day, and sister, Debra Pullen; as well nieces and nephews.

She cherished her friends old and new. We would also like to give thanks to Robert Lerette for his companionship and the assistance he offered our mom. Many thanks to her lifelong friends.

There will be a graveside service at Rest Haven Cemetery in Windsor, on Oct. 21, 2023 at 11 a.m.
