Angeline “Angie” Marie Light

AUGUSTA – Angeline “Angie” Marie Light, 84, of Hallowell went home to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at Maine General Medical Center after a year of declining health.

Angie was born in Augusta, Maine on April 20, 1939, to Harold Lunt and Thelma (Albee). She was the second of ten children. Angeline always went by Angie because “Angeline, was her grandmothers name.”

Angie graduated from Cony High School in June of 1939. She married George (Stubby) White later that month June 22, 1939, and remained by his side until his passing March 9, 1997. She went on to marry Harold Light who passed Jan. 28, 2014.

She worked for the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services where she retired after 30 years of service. In recent years she can be quoted as saying she wished she had never retired.

She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Farmingdale and had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Hallowell. Angie had a smile that could light up your life. She was a strong woman that fought every day until the very end.

Angie was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Thelma Lunt, siblings, Beverly Atwood – Nancy Jr.’s Wife, Joyce- Pat’s wife, Pam, Frank, and his wife Lillian. Sister and brother-in-law: Phyllis and George Violette, Beverly Leighton, Bonnie White, Geraldine and Wayne Baitler, Lester White, and John Perry.

Angie is survived by her children Brenda Vigue, her spouse Mark of Augusta, George White, his spouse Robin of Farmingdale, Cindy White, and her significant other Rick of Randolph. She is also survived by her grandchildren Melissa Vigue of Augusta and Shawn White of Cape Elizabeth. Her great grandchildren Aaron Lettre and fiancé Jaiden Bowley of Augusta, and Cassidy Lettre of Augusta. Siblings Pat, Melvin and his wife Anne, JR, and Philip. As well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

We would like to thank all the medical staff at Maine General on 1 West with whom she spent much of her last year with, also MaineGeneral Home Care, Hospice Unit who took great care of her while she was home. A special thank you to her sister-in-law, June, who was always there to lend a helping hand.

Pallbearers will include George White, Mark Vigue, Rick Massey, Aaron Lettre, Phil White Jr. and Matthew Robbins.

Angie’s visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 24 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta. Her funeral service will follow immediately after, beginning at 12 p.m. Following her funeral service, burial will take place at the Hallowell Cemetery, 27 Water Street, Hallowell. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
