Richard E. Choate Jr.

FARMINGDALE – Richard E. Choate, Jr., 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, at the Ross Manor in Bangor following a long illness. He was born in Augusta on Nov. 22, 1942, a son of the late Richard E. Choate, Sr. and Barbara J. (Getchell) Choate.

Mr. Choate was a graduate of Gardiner Area High School and was a member of the Episcopal Church.

He had been employed for many years by the State of Maine as a Security Guard.

Mr. Choate enjoyed bowling and playing golf.

He was pre-deceased by two sisters: Ruth Moody and Jean Rogachuff.

Mr. Choate is survived by his sister, Melinda D. Johnson of Farmingdale; a brother, Bruce W. Choate of Farmingdale and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 25th at 11 a.m., at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Winthrop St., Augusta.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
