Dennis Michael Luosey

AUGUSTA – Dennis Michael Luosey, 76, passed away Oct. 24, 2023, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born March 26, 1947, in Seattle, Washington, to parents, Michael and Mary (Encell) Luosey.

The son of a Navy Captain, Dennis grew up in various parts of the country. He attended Hall-Dale and Cheverus, ultimately graduating from Cony High School in the ’60s. For many years, Dennis was self-employed and worked as a caregiver, devoting his time to helping others. Dennis resided in the family home in Hallowell until moving into Roncalli Apartments in Augusta several years ago.

Dennis enjoyed traveling, and aviation- he was a team member of the Voyager, the first airplane to travel around the world without stopping or refueling. He had varied interests including photography and scuba diving, and he was an avid reader. A blackbelt in Karate, Dennis was proud to assist in training police officers at the Lethal Force Institute (LFI). Faith was an important part of Dennis’ life, and he was a devout parishoner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Augusta. Dennis will be remembered for his individuality and dry sense of humor.

He is survived by his sister, Bridget Siwinski and her husband, Grant; his nephew, Michael Everhart and his wife Laura and their children Marguerite Everhart and Delia Michaud; his niece, Magen Calland and her husband, Paul and his friends at Roncalli Apartments in Augusta.

His family would especially like to thank Dennis’s dearest friend and companion, Elsie Brackett, whose daily loving attention made Dennis’s last years enjoyable and his independence possible.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 41 Western Ave., Augusta, ME 04330. Burial will follow at Hallowell Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330. Condolences, stories, and photos may be shared by visiting http://www.plummerfh.com.
