Michael K. Mason

BINGHAM – Michael K. Mason, 67, passed away Oct. 24, 2023, at his home in Bingham. Mike was born April 20, 1956, in Lewiston to Shirley (White) Savage and Philip Mason. Mike later lived and grew up in Pleasant Ridge and attended Bingham Schools. He met Karen Beane in 1975, who ended up becoming his life partner. His “Keek” was the world to him and together they raised their 5 children in Bingham.

Mike was a hard worker, spending his life working in the woods running various types of equipment, from harvesters to farm equipment, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t operate. In recent years, Mike enjoyed working for the Knotts’ on their farm in Bingham. Mike loved stock car racing and spent several years racing at Unity Raceway in the #27 Mason Racing car with his brother Scott. His years racing at Unity were some of the happiest years of his life. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing, with his kids, grandkids, and friends. He especially enjoyed fishing Rowe Pond and opening day on the Kennebec River with his son Daron. Mike lived his life helping others, he was always willing to stop and help strangers stranded beside the road, or plowing driveways for people that he noticed hadn’t been plowed out after a storm, never asking for payment or anything in return. Mike loved his children and grandchildren deeply; they were the light of his life. He looked forward to visits with his grandchildren, which often turned into rough housing with the boys and always spoiling his girls. He loved hearing stories of their great hunting and fishing excursions, and always willing to drop everything if any of them needed help with anything. He was so proud of each and every one of you.

Mike is predeceased by both his parents, mother-in-law Orlene Beane, daughter Valinda Beane, and son in law Brian Messer.

Mike is survived by the love of his life Karen Beane; his siblings Scott, Patty, Brenda, Cindy and Travis; his children Bruce W. Beane, Daron Beane (Olivia), Heather Beane (Jeremiah) and Jennifer Beane. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren with two more expected in the next few months as well as many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Mike-Dad-Pa-Grampa-Brother-Uncle-Friend, we love you and you will be missed.
