A weekend of SKOW-Whoville festivities will kick off Friday, Dec. 1.
The Skowhegan Police Department and Hannaford Supermarkets will host a Build a Diaper Igloo — Stuff the Cruiser Fundraiser at the supermarket in the Fairgrounds Marketplace on U.S. Route 201.
Free showings of “Elf” and “The Grinch” are planned for 4 and 4:30 p.m. at Spotlight Cinemas at the Strand on Court Street and a Christmas Magic Show by Conjuring Carroll is set for 5:15 p.m. at The SPACE on the River at 181 Water St.
A parade featuring the Grinch, Martha Mae, and Mr. and Mrs. Clause at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1. The parade can be seen from Margaret Chase Smith Bridges or Water Street, floats will convene at the District Court parking lot.
On Saturday, a Santa’s Breakfast is set for 8-10 a.m. at the Skowhegan Federated Church, Tewksbury Hall on Weston Avenue. Breakfast will cost $7 for those 13 and older and $3 for children 12 and younger.
On Sunday, a live auction fashion show will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Unwined, 151 Water St. Cost is $10 for a brunch and the live auction fashion show presented by Thrifty Chic and the Kid’s Trading Co.! Proceeds from ticket sales and a portion of the auction sales will be donated to hospice. Tickets are available at Thifty Chic.
Free showings of “The Polar Express” is set for 10 a.m. and “The Grinch” at 10:30 a.m. at Spotlight Cinemas at the Strand.
Community Giving Tree, organized by Main Street Skowhegan, will be available at 65 Water St., all day, every day.
The Main Street Skowhegan team invites you to join them in “decorating” a Giving Tree located outside their Skowhegan Outdoors Basecamp. Adorn the tree with hats, gloves, mittens, and warm socks – add a ribbon and hang them or place them among the branches. Those in need are invited to select warm items as a reminder that Skowhegan cares as we spread warmth throughout the holiday season.
