Leo Joseph Quirion

WATERVILLE – Leo Joseph Quirion, 95, of Waterville died Friday, Oct. 21, 2023, after a brief stay at Woodlawn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Skowhegan. He was born in Waterville on Sept. 1, 1928, to Henry and Ida (Landry) Quirion.

Leo was a 1946 graduate of Waterville Senior High School and honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, 504th Parachute Infantry, 82 Airborne Division. In 1953 he met the love of his life, Lorraine M. (Burrill) Quirion, they were married July 2, 1955, and recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.

Leo retired from Scott Paper / Kimberly Clark / SAPPI after more than 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion, and a 50-year member of the Waterville Elks BPOE #905. After his retirement, he and Lorraine spent over 30 winters at their home in Bradenton, Fla.

Leo was predeceased by his parents Henry and Ida; brothers Henry Jr., Donald, Edward, and James, sisters Geraldine Michaud, Dora Mae Blair, and Joan Gaulin; as well as daughter, Cindi Ware Burke.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine; son-in-law, Daniel Burke; granddaughters Lesli Ware and Sara Ware; great-grandchildren, Darien Ware, Olivia Gordon, Scott Gordon, and Spencer Gordon; great-great-grandchildren, Javien and Carter; as well as many nieces and nephews. A special niece, Rhonda Landry, and long-time neighbor and friend Michelle MacKenzie, have also been involved in Leo’s care during these recent months.

At Leo’s request there will be no public visiting hours. An Elks memorial service is planned for Monday, Nov. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the Waterville Elks Lodge, 76 Industrial St., Waterville, and a graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.
