The Mollyockett Chorus, renowned a cappella singers, will perform a benefit concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Norway. Each year the chorus adopts a theme for selecting the songs they will sing that season. This year’s theme is “Your Flight Has Been Delayed” – songs we might sing while waiting in an airport.

The Mollyockett Chorus, based in Norway, was organized in 1996 and is a chapter of Harmony Inc., an international women’s barbershop organization. Under the direction of Simon Smith of Bethel, the chorus sings lively popular music, mostly from early to mid-20th Century, in the barbershop style. The chorus is comprised of women from the Lakes Region and performs at various venues. This spring they opened the season at the Bear Mountain Music Hall in Waterford. In August, the chorus and Maine-ly Harmony performed at a fundraiser for the Lewiston Senior Center in Lewiston.

Admission will be $10 at the door. Proceeds will benefit First Universalist Church of Norway.

Women who love to sing are always welcome at chorus rehearsals, which take place Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., downstairs in the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Norway – located at 479 Main St., Norway. For more information email the chorus at mollyockettchorus@gmail.com or visit the chorus on Facebook.
