Martin “Marty” William Rigoulot

FAYETTE – Martin “Marty” William Rigoulot, 81, of Fayette, Maine passed away on Oct. 6, 2023. Marty was born on Feb. 1, 1942, to Harry and Frieda (Dolly) Rigoulot. When Marty was young, his mother married Edward Rigoulot. Marty always considered Edward his father.

Marty graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford Connecticut in 1962. After high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and was stationed around the world.

Marty (K1PIG) was a long-time amateur radio operator and member of the Amateur Radio Relay League and the Quarter Century Wireless Club. He loved to participate in Ham Fests and Field Days.

Marty started his career with the Wallingford Ambulance Service in 1974, which was then incorporated into the Wallingford Fire Department. He was one of the first Firefighter/EMT-IV’s in the state. Marty was also President of Local 1326 of the International Association of Firefighters and Commissioner for Connecticut’s Commission of Fire Prevention and Control. He was very proud of his time negotiating benefits for his “brothers” in the fire department.

Marty also was the former owner of Integrated Office Systems of Connecticut and former manager at Connecticut Computer Services.

In retirement, Marty was very active in the Town of Fayette. He was a Selectboard member for several terms, SAD 36 School Board member, Fayette School Board member, Fayette Planning Board member, Fayette Budget Committee member, and CDBG grant committee member. He served as webmaster, volunteered with potluck suppers and other events and most recently was on the Fayette Board of Appeals.

Marty was also a long-time member of the Elks Club, the Fayette Ridge Riders Snowmobile Association, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family.

Marty is survived by his three daughters, Wendi Lawlor, Dr. Deana (David) Plaskon, Dawn Drauss and their mother Patricia Jackman. He is also survived by his brother Ed (Ted Brocky) Rigoulot, George (Nancy Ferrucci) Rigoulot; his grandchildren Michael (Ashley), Jessica (Chris), Taylor, Patrick, Alexander; and great-grandchildren Kinsley, Reece, Brooke, Patrick, Christopher, Jr., and Kinley. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as former spouses Phyllis Barnes Taylor and Lisa Bojor Rigoulot.

Marty also leaves behind the “club” members at the Weathervane Restaurant and many other cherished friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Dolly Rigoulot, his father Harry Rigoulot; brother Henry Rigoulot, sister Ruth Ellen Rigoulot; son-in-law Michael Lawlor, Jr.; and niece Holly Loomis.

Marty had a special love for his dogs, “his beloved fur babies” Travis, MacDuff, Maali, Misty, and Peanut who all offered him great companionship.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
