Clyde L. Trask Jr.

AUGUSTA – Clyde L. Trask, Jr. Our beloved Clyde went to be with his Lord on Veterans Day Nov. 11, 2023 very unexpectedly. Clyde was born June 2, 1944, in Augusta, to Clyde Lamont Trask Sr and Earlene Mclaughlin Trask. He was raised in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School in 1964.

His first full time job was just after graduation for Osmo Company, preserving telephone poles, working with his best friend Gus Tillson.

Clyde was honored to serve his country in the US Army being Honorably Discharged in 1971.

During his working years, he had various jobs. State of Maine at AMHI at the Farm, as an Aide, and a Security Guard. As a Mechanic at Harris Baking Company and Lipman Poultry. As a Locomotive Mechanic at MCRR. He also had his own firewood business, “The Woodshed”. He again worked for the State of Maine as a mechanic retiring in 2006 after 28 years of service. After retirement he continued his love for mechanic work for family and friends.  He relished the challenge of repairing what many thought was a vehicle ready for the junkyard.  He especially loved restoring Army vehicles.

Clyde’s many loves in life were hunting, fishing, working in the woods and just long walks in his woodlot.

Clyde married the love of his life, Sugar, June 16, 2001.

Clyde loved animals especially his beagles April, Rosie, and “Winnie” that was a surprise gift from his grandchildren Madi and Logan.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years “Sugar” (Dorothy Barry Paulin) Trask; his son Randy McKechnie; brothers George Trask and his wife Gail and Tim Trask,, sisters Esther and Lorraine and her husband Joe; stepchildren Tim Barry, Ken, Dan and Chris Paulin, Ronda (Paulin) Giust and husband Rene; 16 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.  Also, Clyde’s best friends, his brother-in-law Gus Tillson and his brother George.

Clyde was predeceased by his parents; sisters Effie and Naomi; and his son Mark Lamont McKechnie; his grandson Kyle Paulin.

Funeral services will be Monday Nov. 20, 2023, at the Augusta First Church of the Nazarene, 30 Nazarene Drive, Augusta, Maine. Family visitation from 12 – 1 p.m. Friends are welcome from 1 – 2 p.m. and Clyde’s Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Burial following service at Riverside Cemetery on Bangor St Augusta.
