Ann Diamond

WINTHROP – Ann Diamond, 87, of Winthrop, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

Ann was born April 18,1936, in Lewiston, the daughter of Elias Tucker, Jr. and Katherine (Donaghue) Tucker.

She lived in Mechanic Falls for seven years where her father and grandfather were undertakers for 51 years. She attended schools in Lewiston and Chelsea and then Goodwill Home Hinkley School for five years where she took piano lessons at age 11 from Walter “Pop” Handen. She started out playing for Assembly for the grade and junior high schools and then for the high school. She came to Winthrop her freshman year, graduating in 1954.

In 1951 Ann met Henry E. Diamond of Winthrop. They married in 1954 at the Winthrop United Methodist Church, were married for 34 years, and raised six children.

After coming to Winthrop Ann continued taking lessons for a short time with Frances Harrington and later taught piano for nine years and played the church organ in three churches for 18 years. She was a Charter Member of the Coda Chorus Winthrop where she occasionally accompanied on the piano. She belonged to Rebekah Lodge Hallowell and was a Noble Grand two times. She loved music, baking, decorating her home, and spending time her children.

Ann was a homemaker and mother, worked at Depositors Trust Company, and then worked for Maine State Liquor Stores for 23 years until her retirement in 2003.

She was predeceased by her grandson Israel Breton in 2019.

She is survived by her children Bonnie Diamond Lindeman of Winthrop, Deborah Diamond Morgan of Litchfield, Patricia Diamond Breton of Fayette, David Diamond of Winthrop, Robert Diamond of Wayne, and Christopher Diamond of Turner; six grandchildren Adam and Aaron Breton, Ryan and Amanda Morgan, Kathryn Morrow, Jonathan Lucas; seven great-grandchildren William and Tucker Morrow, Aaron Breton, Jr. Jamison Barnette, and Gabriella Breton, Lily Breton, and Skylar McClusker; and a half-brother Elias E. Tucker III.

A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Wayne in the spring.
