Timothy Alan Holt

NORRIDGEWOCK – Timothy Alan Holt, 64, of Norridgewock passed away peacefully at Woodlawn Nursing Facility on Nov. 20, 2023, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.

Tim was born Dec. 12, 1958, the son of Ellen M. Clifford and Avard J. Holt of Skowhegan. Tim was a graduate of Skowhegan Area High School class of 1977. Where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. His senior quote was “Let’s have a blast.”

Tim married Darlene Warren of Norridgewock in 1979. He worked at Canadian Chains and Main Gas in Skowhegan before becoming owner and operator of Somerset LP Gas Co. In 1988.

As many of Tim’s friends know he could not walk past a pinball machine without taking a turn. He also enjoyed playing pool and cards. Other hobbies include swimming, golfing, camping, hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips to West Carey and Pierce Pond with lifelong friends. He also loved perusing an atlas, the dictionary, and any yearbook. Tim was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics, LA Rams, and the Cincinnati Reds. Tim loved playing in the men’s basketball league,enjoyed coaching little league and Rec basketball as well. He was well known for making up creative songs.

Besides his parents Tim was predeceased by identical twin daughters (1982) his brother-in-law Nolan Knight and lifelong friend Kirk McGowan.

Timothy is survived by his daughter Casey Holt and partner Greg Burkhart of Skowhegan, and his son Derek Holt and wife Jessie of Skowhegan; One grandson Aidan and three granddaughters Natalie, Samantha, and Emrie, he was so proud to be their “Grampy”; Ex-wife and special friend Darlene, who remained very much a part of Tim’s life; siblings Thomas Holt and wife Deborah of Farmington, Sally Holt-Knight of Skowhegan, Susan Smith and husband Clarke of Marblehead, Mass., Terry Holt and husband Luciano of Lowell, Mass.; his uncle Alan Clifford and wife Goldie of Canaan, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

A very special thanks to caretakers Denise, Diane, Emma, Melina, Woodlawn Nursing Facility, and to Megan and everyone at Beacon Hospice.

Visitation will be held Saturday Dec. 2, 2023, at 11 a.m., with a service at 12 p.m., at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. Directly following will be a celebration of Tim’s life at Madison VFW Hall. A burial to follow in the spring.
