Sandra Lee Cunningham

BELGRADE – Sandra Lee Cunningham, daughter of Lloyd and Mildred Spiller, born Aug. 6, 1938, passed peacefully in her home with family by her side after a long battle with cancer. Sandra was most proud of her faith, family and friends. Having worked as a nurse’s aid in the ICU for over 25 years, she was proud to have helped so many residents in Gardiner Alzheimers Center post-retirement when she would return to Maine each summer. Sandra and her husband Dewayne (predeceased) loved to travel to Florida during the Maine winters where she met many cherished friends whom she spoke with consistently after she could no longer make the trip. Sandra had a passion for crafting and crocheting and would gift family and friends with her beautiful designs, especially during Christmas. Being devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ, Sandra sang for many choirs and would never be afraid to use her voice on any occasion.

Sandra is survived by her son Michael and wife Rhonda Emmons, daughter Deborah Emmons, daughter Kimberly and husband Tristam Dodge, son Joel and wife Monique Cunningham, brother Tom Gay, brother Ron Gay and wife Kathy, brother David Gay and wife Charlene, brother-in-law Carol and wife Patsy, grandchildren: Casey, Jessica, Nathan, Travis, Bryant, Krystle, Morgan, Bryana, Austin, Lance and 16 great-grandchildren.

Sandra was extremely proud to have such a large family and many cherished friends who will miss her dearly.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Sandra.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday December 2, 1 p.m., at Libby Hill Cemetery in Gardiner. A celebration of life will follow the service at 205 Location Road Belgrade.

Thank you to all family and friends for making Sandra’s life so special. God bless.

In lieu of flowers, Sandra requested for donations to be made in her honor to local animal rescue services where she adopted her loving animals Alley and Dori who she adored very much.
