BENTON – Bill Harmon, 76, died peacefully Nov 28, 2023, at MaineGeneral in Augusta.
Born in Gardiner on March 6, 1947, he was the son of Frederick and Dorothy Calderwood Harmon and grandson of Lloyd and Harriett Calderwood. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1965, the University of Connecticut (B.A. Geology 1969), and the University of Cincinnati (M.S. 1974).
His professional career included Amoco as an exploration geologist and petrophysicist; Core Laboratories as a reservoir geological services supervisor, sedimentologist, sedimentary petrologist, regional geologist; and manager at its Reservoir Geological Services Group in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He also was an international sedimentology/petrology consultant and a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Core Analysts, and the Geological Society of Maine.
Bill is survived by two of his children, Scott and Christopher Harmon; and nine grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, and Katherine Harmon; Oliver/Minah, Jonathan, and Ava Harmon; and Tyree Bryant-Harmon, Terence Bryant, Jr., and Xavier/Bria Bryant/Brinkman; one aunt; and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Sharon; daughter, Bethany Bryant; mother Dorothy, father Frederick; and brother, Bruce.
