SOLON – Jerry W. Hamlin Sr., 80, of Solon, passed away on Dec. 15, 2023. Born in Brighton Plantation and a lifelong resident of Maine, Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who found his greatest pleasure in fishing, hunting, hiking, boating and camping. He cherished the beauty of nature and spent countless hours embracing its wonders.

Known as “Papa Bear” by some, Jerry’s life was marked by his love and appreciation for the great outdoors. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, sense of humor and his boundless appreciation for the natural world. One of Jerry’s greatest adventures and some of his fondest memories were from his ‘once in a lifetime’ fishing trip to Alaska.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents Pauline Moody and Donald Hamlin; brothers Kenneth Hamlin and Keith Hamlin and sister Janice Brown. He is survived by his three children, Jerry W. Hamlin II, Teresa Hamlin and Lisa Sherry, son-in-law Thomas Sherry; granddaughters Jordyn Sherry and Taylor Sherry; and his sisters Jeannie LaGross and Margeret Laweryson. He also leaves behind his life partner Betsy Rogers and his beloved fur pal Pepper Jack.

Graveside services will take place in the spring.
