AUGUSTA – Donald R. Thibodeau, 88, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Glenridge Drive following a long illness. He was born in Augusta on Jan. 23, 1935, a son of the late Arthur and Delima (Gosselin) Thibodeau.

Mr. Thibodeau attended Augusta schools and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

He had been employed by Augusta Public Works and, previously, for Bates Mfg., Edwards Division.

Mr. Thibodeau was a member of Le Club Calumet.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Helen Y. (Bellavance) Thibodeau. Mr. Thibodeau is survived by two sons, Dale R. Thibodeau and his wife Jackie of Augusta and Michael R. Thibodeau and his fiancée Lisa Brown of Gardiner; a sister, Julie Webber of Augusta; five grandchildren, Jacob, Brittney, Dustin, Brianna Cleaves and her husband Jared and Kayla Strout and her husband Kenny; three great grandchildren, Kinli, Nowland and Leighton Strout; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially his cousin Raymond Thibodeau who was like a brother to Don.

Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, Jan. 4 from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Burial will be held in the spring in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.
