Lorraine H. Poulin

AUGUSTA – Lorraine H. Poulin, 93, passed away following a long illness on Jan. 1, 2024, with family by her side. Lorraine was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Lewiston to Wilfred and Emma (Bilodeau) Hamel.

She was a lifelong member of Saint Augustine Catholic Church. Lorraine married Laurier Poulin June 30, 1952.

She worked at Bates Mfg., Edwards Division and Carlton Woolen Mill for many years. When the children were young she often worked the 3rd shift to be home with the children during the day.

Lorraine was a strong and independent woman, always willing to help family, friends and neighbors in any way she could, asking for nothing in return. She did not know the meaning of the word no.

She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Laurier Poulin in August 2021; her brother, Adrian Hamel, her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Paul Richards, her sister and brother-in-law, Fern and Paul Michaud; and son-in-law Anthony “Tony” Willette, Sr.

Lorraine is survived by her four children, Theresa Lahey and husband Michael of Litchfield, Louise Stilson and husband Randy of Ormond Beach, Fla., Robert N. Poulin of South China and Lisa Willette of Windsor; her grandchildren, Heather Fitzgibbon, Amber Bilodeau, Wendy Berube, Anthony Willette Jr. and Eric Willette; her great grandchildren, James Demmons and Cody Shockley; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff from Glenridge Rehab and Long-term Care (Valley Neighborhood) for the care and comfort they provided to our mother.

Per Lorraine’s wishes there will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Burial will be at a later date in the Old Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.
