WINSLOW — The Winslow Town Council meeting that had been scheduled for Monday night was postponed after several town officials and employees came down with an illness.

The town announced in a social media post Monday morning the meeting has been rescheduled to next Monday, Jan. 15.

Town Manager Ella Bowman said she and several other employees at the Town Office had called out sick, prompting the meeting’s postponement.

“We’ve had four employees out with it so far, and I’m not sure it’s done yet,” Bowman said by text message. “We don’t want to spread it to the public or council members.”

Bowman said the illness as an upper respiratory virus, and none of the sick employees has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Town Council was planning to discuss many matters, including cleanup efforts at Fort Halifax Park after last month’s flooding, the possibility of selling one of the town’s ambulances and accepting a donation from the Winslow Veterans of Foreign Wars.
