On Dec. 3, Carole Clowes of Sidney wrote that guns are not the problem. She says mental health is the problem. Anybody who possesses a gun can imagine the desire or demand to kill another sentient being. That wish and desire constitutes mental illness. If nobody could buy a gun, we would have fewer mental illnesses expressing the disease by murdering others.

Those who want to join militias could still express their Second Amendment rights. Militias weed out crazy people. The weeding is not perfect and the weeds do come back. Let the garden of life thrive.
