James Burton Leavitt

AUGUSTA – James Burton Leavitt, 86, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Maine General Medical Center on Thursday December 28, 2023.

He was born July 14, 1937, in Gardiner Maine, the son of Harry and Alice Leavitt. He attended Gardiner High School and after graduating served in the Army Reserves. At that time he met his wife, Sally Partridge and was married 47 years.

James worked at a local auto upholstery shop where he learned his trade. In 1973 he opened his own business; Jim’s Auto Upholstery that was located on Togus Pond in Augusta in which he ran for 40 years.

He loved spending time with his family in the Forks at the family camp. You could find him there four wheeling, snowmobiling, boating, motorcycling and cutting firewood.

James is survived by his daughter, Nicole Leavitt-Wadleigh and fiancée Gerald Beaulieu of Litchfield. Daughter Shannon Pulsifer and husband Jody Pulsifer of Augusta. Son Tyson Leavitt of Pittston and five grandchildren.

He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. We want to thank his nurses and doctors for the love and support they gave to him and our family during this difficult time.
