RICHMOND – Janice “Janny” Edith Wagg Lilly of Richmond, passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2024, after a sudden illness, age 69, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on July 12, 1954, in Bowdoin. She graduated from Lisbon Falls High School and lived in Maine throughout her life, in Bowdoin, Litchfield and Richmond.

Janny was preceded in death by her parents, John Wilbur Wagg and Geraldine Theresa Whitney Wagg; her daughter Christina Rea Tarr, her brothers, John Wilbur Wagg II and Leon Gerald Wagg.

Janny is survived by her husband Gilbert Mitchell Lilly Sr., of Richmond, her sons, Gilbert Mitchell Lilly Jr., of Wales, and Justin Whitney Lilly of Columbus, Ohio; her siblings, Emery William Wagg of Pahrump, Nev., Kathryn Shirley Wagg Bernier of Bowdoin, Thomas James Wagg of Bowdoin, Ava Caroline Wagg Ricker of Nashua, N.H., Burton A. Wagg of Madison, N.C., Geraldine Evelyn Wagg Beirne of Brunswick, and Joseph Alfred Wagg of Bowdoin, and many nieces and nephews.

Janny had numerous hobbies, among them card design, scrapbooking, knitting, cross stitching, Diamond Dot and jewelry collecting (earrings and lapel pins). She also had a tremendous love of hats and wore them with style. Janny’s great passion was reading- some of her favorite authors were Steven King and Nora Roberts. Her favorite books included Little Women. Her favorite movies were Gone with the Wind and It’s a Wonderful Life. Elvis Presley and Sam Elliot were her favorite performers. She will be sorely missed. May she rest in eternal peace.

Burial will be in the Spring.
