AUGUSTA – Steven L. Baker, 64, of Augusta, passed away on Saturday evening, Oct. 7, 2023, at his home. He is now at peace resting in the arms of his family in heaven.
He was born in Augusta on Aug. 12, 1959, the son of Lawrence F. and Annette F. (LaChance) Baker.
Steve grew up in Manchester, Maine and attended Manchester Elementary School. He graduated from Maranacook High School in 1978. He started out as an auto mechanic and held several jobs in the Augusta area over the years. He loved to tinker with auto mechanics and was more than happy to help his family, friends and neighbors. As his mother aged, he then became her caretaker. After she passed, he always made sure she had flowers at her grave and left a wreath, that lit up at night, every winter.
Steve was more of a homebody but loved to ride, whether it was in his truck, car or on his Harley. Steve has taken his last ride here on this earth, but now soars high in the heavenly skies with his brother, Rick. Steve is loved and missed by his family and friends.
Steve is predeceased by his parents and his brother Rick Baker. Steve is survived by his sister, Pam Baker of Brunswick; his half-brother, Dennis Finnemore and his wife, Barbara, of Augusta, and his half-sister, Donna Finnemore and her husband, Jack, of Cape Elizabeth.
A celebration of life will be scheduled in the Spring.
Arrangements are in the care of the Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta where condolences and memories may be shared with the family on the obituary page
