I have watched as each party lines up behind a candidate my age or older. I have no problem with a healthy senior handling most responsibilities, but I have long since set plans in place against the inevitable turn of health that is far more statistically likely now that I am into the mid-70s.
While the Republicans have some candidates who, although largely passed over by the base, actively present their message for the office, I am disappointed to see that only one Democrat has had the courage to step forward and present a choice. I don’t wish ill health on anyone, but these leading runners could suddenly be incapacitated with little warning before the election cycle is over.
I think it is high time that this country tapped into the wealth of younger leadership perfectly capable of doing the job well if only the big money and party elites would be willing to give them an opportunity. This seems a storyline that the news media of all stripes choose to largely ignore, just like the leadership of both major parties.
