Reginald C. McCollor

BINGHAM – Reginald C. McCollor, 93, passed away Jan. 12, 2024, just two months shy of his 94th birthday. He was born March 21, 1930, the only son of Evelyn McCollor Mason. He married Erdine Ida Rollins on August 20, 1947. They were married 68 years until her passing on May 6, 2015.

Reginald was a Registered Master Maine Guide. He and Erdine spent many days fishing the ponds and lakes in Central and Northern Maine. Their favorite pond was “Pierce.” He would take his vacation from CMP to guide his fellow fishermen to his special fishing spots on Pierce Pond. You would frequently see Reginald paddling Erdine on Pierce Pond in his canoe, the “Sponson,” using the special streamers/dry flies he crafted. He spent many hours fishing with his family, teaching them Pierce’s secrets. Reginald and Erdine loved traveling, together and with family, throughout the United States and Canada.

Reginald worked for the Bristol Boat Company, a division of the Allen Quimby Veneer Company, before securing a position with Central Maine Power Company, where he retired after 30 years with the position of “Operator.” He guided for Cobbs Camps, as well as being the caretaker of Abbe’s camp on the island. He served for many years on the SAD #13 School Board, frequently in the position of Chairman.

Reginald was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Erdine; his son, Jack P. McCollor; and his grandson, Kevin J. McCollor.

Reginald is survived by his three daughters, Alieta Belanger and her husband Ronald of Bingham, Deborah Nadeau and her husband Paul of Hollis, and Janet Plourde and her husband Ronn of Skowhegan, his daughter-in-law, Merleen Stevens McCollor of Skowhegan and his cousin, John McCollor and his wife Joan of St. Petersburg, Flda. Reginald was blessed with nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

His family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Redington Fairview Hospital for their wonderful care, compassion, and support.

His interment will be in the spring at the Union Cemetery in Moscow next to his wife, Erdine.
