HALLOWELL — Gaslight Theater is set to hold auditions on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 3 and 4, for “Nunsense,” a musical by Dan Googin, directed by Bill Haley with musical direction by Marcia Gallagher.
Auditions will be held at 1 p.m. at Hallowell City Hall Auditorium, 1 Winthrop St. People should bring a song to sing and be ready for cold readings from the show.
Four performances are scheduled for the same location at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, June 6 and 7, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9. Rehearsals will take place Sundays with one midweek evening; dates are to be announced.
The casting parts of “Nunsense”: Sister Mary Regina, Mother Superior; Sister Mary Hubert, Mistress of Novices; Sister Mary Amnesia; Sister Mary Leo; and Sister Robert Anne.
“Nunsense” is a spoof about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a fundraiser. Sadly, the rest of the sisterhood died from botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia Child of God. Thus, the remaining nuns stage a talent show in order to raise the money to bury their dearly departed, according to a news release from the theater.
