Gale Jo-Ann Wormwood

AUGUSTA – Gale Jo-Ann Wormwood, 76, passed away on Jan. 25, 2024 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, with her loving family at her side.

She was born on Feb. 7, 1947, in Biddeford to the late Raymond Wormwood and Nellie Gurney. Gale graduated from Gardiner High School in 1965. Following high school, she wanted to go to nursing school. However, she needed to go to work to help at home.

Over the years she had an eclectic collection of work experiences, including housekeeping at Maine General, and Graybirch Nursing Home, and processing work at Lipman’s. However, she spent most of her working life working as a telemarketer at Woodmaster’s Construction.

Gale loved music and helping others. She enjoyed bowling in her youth and watching it as she got older. She had a brilliant smile and a laugh that could be heard for miles and dedicated her entire life to caring for those she loved. She loved and was loved by many. Some that were hers, and many that she claimed as her own.

In addition to her parents, Gale was predeceased by her adopted mother, Emily Doray; brothers, Donald Wormwood, Allan Wormwood, Richard Brown, Robert Brown and Dale Wormwood, sisters Gertrude Headburg and Judith Osborn, and partner Claudette Lemar.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Vincent (Jeremy Vincent) of Albion, son, Keith Laney II of Clinton; brothers David Wormwood, James Gurney and Bruce Gurney, sister, Sharon Cline of Buxton; 11 grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews.

Per Gale’s request, there will not be any services at this time.
