BANGOR — The Old Town girls basketball team closed out a day of Class B North quarterfinal action at the Cross Insurance Center on Friday with a 66-27 victory over Maine Central Institute.

Tenth-ranked MCI (10-10) hung with Old Town early, trailing just 13-11 after one quarter of play. The Coyotes, though, would outscore the Huskies 21-2 in the second quarter and 32-14 in the second half to seal a decisive victory.

Saige Evans had 19 points and 15 rebounds for Old Town, which also got 19 points, four rebounds and four assists from Taylor Loring. MCI got 15 points from Kayleigh Dunton and four points, four rebounds and three assists from Skyla Dean.

Old Town advances to face sixth-ranked Mount Desert Island (13-6) in Wednesday’s regional semifinals. The Trojans defeated No. 3 Maranacook 64-42 in Friday’s other girls B North quarterfinal showdown.
