“An evening with Gabriel Byrne” will feature a screening of Byrne’s 1995 film “The Usual Suspects” followed by a live question and answer session.

“Gabriel Byrne is not only one of my favorite actors,” said Patrisha McLean, founder and CEO of Finding Our Voices, “but he is one of my favorite people, because not only did he offer to do this super-exciting event for us for free, he is paying the rental fee for the venue. With the Camden Opera House picking up the cost of the movie’s licensing fee, that means every penny of ticket sales will bring light to domestic abuse survivors,” according to a press release sent by McLean.

McLean added, “That Mr. Byrne has kept a very low profile for the 10 years that he has lived in Midcoast Maine makes it even more special that he is stepping up in such a big way for us.”

“The Usual Suspects” was named one of the 10 greatest mystery movies of all time by the American Film Institute and is rated R. Byrne’s other 80-plus starring roles include the movies “Miller’s Crossing” and “Little Women” and the TV series “In Treatment.” His 2021 memoir “Walking With Ghosts,” recounting his Irish childhood and journey to Hollywood, was adapted by Byrne for a one-man-show in London’s West End and Broadway.

Out-of-town attendees of the March 9 event can receive a 15% discount on rooms in three hotels in Camden and one in Rockport by letting the hotels know they have tickets to the event and showing the tickets at check-in.

Tickets cost $35 and can be bought at camdenoperahouse.com. All proceeds go to Finding Our Voices, the Camden-based grassroots nonprofit breaking the silence of domestic abuse across Maine.

Finding Our Voices provides domestic abuse awareness campaigns as well as peer-support programs for Maine’s women survivors. For more information, visit findingourvoices.net.
