For years I have been doing the word games in the Morning Sentinel. I awake in the morning and while having my coffee, I work the games. Often, I get stuck and can’t complete them. I then set them aside and have breakfast, I wash the dishes and return to the word games. Almost, without fail, those games seem to become easier to solve and in short time, they are solved. This happens too many times to be just coincidence.

It appears that having eaten a healthy meal, my brain actually functions much better. I have begun to see a pattern here.

That led me to the conclusion that when a hungry person is well-fed, their brain functions much better. The lesson to be learned here is that we would all be much better off if everyone was well-fed. If the poor and the near poor were to be less hungry their ability to perform better would be much improved. They would be better equipped to help themselves and become more productive. At that point, everyone, even the more privileged, would benefit from the results and the world would become a more pleasant to live in.

It behooves us all to ensure that we eliminate the poverty that causes so much hunger.
